How to Change Your Name on Facebook Timeline
Read how to change your name on Facebook Timeline. To make sure that everyone uses their real name, Facebook has the right to limit the number of times you can change your name. If your name is changed by a Facebook representative, you’ll no more have the option to manually change your Facebook name.
To edit the name listed on your Facebook account:
- Click the gear icon (
) in the upper right corner of any Facebook page, select Account Settings - Select General in the left hand column
- Select the Name setting, click Edit to the far right
- Type in your name and save your name changes
Note:
- You should use your real name as it would be listed on your student ID, credit card, etc
- You can use your nickname as a first or middle name if they’re a variation of your real first or last name
- You can also list another name (ex: maiden name, nickname, or professional name) on your Facebook account
